Full History

The human tribes of the Eastern Kingdoms were once scattered among competing settlements, vulnerable to attacks from the Amani forest trolls. Their consolidation under Thoradin changed the fate of the region. He forged the kingdom of Arathor, establishing a power strong enough to unite disparate human groups against threats they could not withstand separately.

War with the Amani drew the new kingdom into an alliance with the high elves of Quel'Thalas. Human magi learned from their elven allies, and the combined armies overcame the troll offensive. The victory secured a future in which human settlements could spread beyond Arathor's first heartland.

Over time, the united kingdom gave way to successor realms. Lordaeron, Stormwind, Stromgarde, and other human powers grew from the descendants of those earlier migrations and alliances, each developing its own rulers and interests. Arathor had shown that scattered human tribes could act as one people, and that their survival was sometimes bound to alliances with those who had once stood apart.
