Full History

The Tower of Althalaxx became the center of a struggle that linked the fallen Highborne to a more recent warlock cult. Near the broken shores of Darkshore and Ashenvale, the tower came under the control of Athrikus Narassin and the Dark Strand. Their rites drew power from imprisoned spirits and from magic the night elves had good reason to fear. The tower's threat did not begin with ordinary banditry: it was a deliberate attempt to turn old sorcery into new dominion.

Sentinel Elissa Starbreeze grew concerned when Balthule Shadowstrike failed to return from an investigation of the tower. The pursuit revealed cultists, ritual objects and dealings that reached beyond Darkshore into the satyr-held sites of Ashenvale. Two soul gems remained under Athrikus's influence at Night Run and Satyrnaar. Those gems bound Highborne souls and gave the cult a power that could not be ended merely by driving guards from the tower.

Delgren the Purifier uncovered portions of the conspiracy and sought to break its instruments. The Dark Strand's presence was a reminder of an ancient danger that had survived the Sundering: magic used without regard for the lives consumed by it. The tower's history follows a single chain of cause and consequence, from a hidden cult to the imprisoned souls that made its ambitions possible.
