Quick Overview

Zoram was once a night-elven settlement on the coast of ancient Kalimdor. The Sundering destroyed the city and broke the temple lands around it, leaving ruins that later drew naga, satyrs and the Twilight's Hammer. The coast's troubled history reaches from the War of the Ancients to the cults that followed.

Full History

Before the Great Sundering, the night elves held settlements and sacred sites along the coastline that became northwestern Ashenvale. The town of Zoram belonged to that older world. When the Well of Eternity imploded and Kalimdor was torn apart, the city and nearby temple lands were shattered, with much of the ancient ground sinking beneath the sea.

A ruined temple of Elune became the flooded complex later called Blackfathom Deeps. Long afterward naga and satyrs entered its submerged passages, seeking the power concealed within. Members of the Twilight's Hammer cult followed and gathered around the monstrous Aku'mai. The coast thus passed from a place of night-elven settlement to a refuge for forces devoted to darker powers.

The strand's older name preserves the memory of the city the sea swallowed. Its later conflicts began with the same cataclysm that broke ancient Kalimdor and displaced its peoples.
