Full History
The gold mine called Night Web's Hollow had once been a useful part of Lordaeron's northern economy. Its shafts were cut in the ground near the settlements that later became Deathknell and Brill. When the Scourge overwhelmed the kingdom, ordinary work was broken along with royal authority. Mines and farms were abandoned, and the Forsaken inherited the difficult question of how to recover the resources needed to sustain a new society.
By the time the free undead established themselves in Tirisfal, spiders had overrun the mine. Executor Arren understood the cost of leaving it untouched. Gold had been scarce even during Lordaeron's better years, and a community facing enemies on every side could not afford to lose a source of it. With too few troops to clear the infestation in one stroke, he planned to reclaim the workings gradually.
Night Web's Hollow was therefore part of the Forsaken's struggle to build something from the ruins of the Scourge. They needed more than vengeance and soldiers: they needed mines, labor, and the ability to supply their own settlements. The spiders blocked a humble but essential step toward independence, and the mine's recovery became a practical ambition of the new kingdom.
