Full History
The night elves' druidic traditions were shaped by Cenarius and by the long effort to defend Kalimdor from forces that threatened the living world. Moonglade became a haven in which the teachings of nature could be maintained apart from the courts and armies of the great cities. For druids who entered the Emerald Dream, sacred sites on the waking side of that bond were essential. Nighthaven grew as a gathering place for those entrusted with protecting the ancient discipline.
The War of the Ancients and the Sundering changed the night elves' civilization, but they did not break the duty that bound the druids to the forests. Malfurion Stormrage's leadership gave that duty a central place in their recovery. The Cenarion Circle eventually drew together defenders from different peoples, recognizing that the dangers threatening the land did not always respect factional borders. Nighthaven served that broader work rather than a campaign of territorial conquest.
After the Legion's defeat at Mount Hyjal, the night elves faced an uncertain future without the old blessing of immortality. Moonglade's traditions endured despite that loss. Nighthaven's history is a story of continuity through disaster: the druids returned to their calling after wars shattered kingdoms, guarding a relationship with the natural world older than the newest political divisions.
