Full History
Kodos were bound to the lives of the tauren long before the tribes gathered beneath Cairne Bloodhoof. The great beasts accompanied migrations across Kalimdor and supplied a connection to a natural world the tauren revered. In Desolace, a gathering place for aging and dying kodos became known as the Kodo Graveyard.
Desolace was also a battleground for the centaur clans, whose raids placed constant pressure on tauren communities moving through central Kalimdor. The graveyard stood amid that difficult country, but its origin was not a military victory or the order of a chieftain. It grew from the lives and deaths of creatures that traveled through the region over generations.
The tauren's later alliance with Thrall and their settlement in Mulgore changed their political fortunes, not their older relationship with the land and its animals. The graveyard remained part of that history. Its significance lay in the continuity of migration, death and remembrance, beyond the borders that younger kingdoms sought to impose.
