Full History
The road east from Tirisfal led into territory ruined by the plague and the armies of the Scourge. As the northern kingdoms collapsed, the border ceased to separate peaceful provinces and became a threshold between lands still contested by the living and fields held by the dead. The Argent Dawn established a presence at the Bulwark to challenge that advance.
For the Forsaken, the frontier held a bitter irony. They had freed themselves from the Lich King's command, yet the same undead armies that had once claimed their obedience threatened their new society. The Dawn did not demand that every fighter share an allegiance to Stormwind, the Horde, or any fallen king. That independence allowed resistance to continue where ordinary diplomacy failed.
The Bulwark was not the site of a grand decisive battle. Its importance lay in the repeated work of guarding a dangerous approach, gathering intelligence and directing volunteers toward the Plaguelands. What had once been a road between neighboring human lands became a line across which the future of Lordaeron's dead and surviving peoples remained unresolved.
