Full History
For generations, the tauren of Kalimdor had moved under the pressure of centaur raids, often unable to protect every family or settlement. Cairne Bloodhoof's meeting with Thrall offered a chance to end that wandering. The orcs needed allies in an unfamiliar land; the tauren needed the strength to secure a place where their tribes could live together.
After fighting alongside the Horde during the Third War, Cairne turned toward Mulgore. The high mesas overlooking its grasslands offered defensible ground for a new center of tauren life. He established Thunder Bluff there, inviting tribes divided by years of flight and scattered encampments to gather under one roof of leadership. The city arose from an urgent need for safety, but Cairne intended more than a fortress.
Thunder Bluff gave the tauren a permanent meeting place for elders, hunters, shamans, and craftsmen. It also made the Bloodhoof chieftain's choices more important to tribes that had long maintained their own customs and loyalties. Cairne had provided refuge; keeping the people together would require patience, authority, and a shared willingness to build a future after generations of danger.
