Full History
The war between the dwarven clans had ended long before Magni Bronzebeard ruled Ironforge, but its injuries remained alive. The Dark Irons had built a power beneath Blackrock Mountain, while the Bronzebeards held the old mountain kingdom. Their rivalries turned every crossing of clan lines into a matter of danger and suspicion.
Magni feared that his daughter Moira had been taken into Blackrock Depths by Emperor Dagran Thaurissan. From Ironforge the affair appeared to be a captivity that demanded her rescue. The king's determination was sharpened by the identity of the ruler involved: Dagran represented the clan whose history had been stained by the summoning of Ragnaros and centuries of conflict with the other dwarves.
The truth was more difficult than an ordinary hostage story. Moira's relationship with the Dark Iron emperor made it impossible to assume that she shared her father's wishes. The attempt to bring her home exposed a divide between a king who saw danger and betrayal and a daughter whose loyalties had shifted beyond the world he knew.
The crisis did not erase the War of the Three Hammers, nor did family affection settle the fate of the dwarven clans. It showed that the old divide could pass directly through a royal household, turning an act intended as protection into another source of estrangement.
