The Second War had ended with the Horde defeated, but not every orcish force had disappeared or accepted Thrall's emerging new leadership. Strahnbrad matters partly because it shows the Arthas who existed before Frostmourne: determined to serve and willing to fight for his kingdom.
Full History
Prince Arthas's first Warcraft III campaigns portrayed him as a defender of Lordaeron before the plague consumed his attention. At Strahnbrad he confronted Blackrock orc raiders and later fought beside Uther against their encampment. The threats were recognizable remnants of older wars, not yet the supernatural catastrophe to come. His response introduced both his military courage and his responsibilities as a young paladin prince.
The Second War had ended with the Horde defeated, but not every orcish force had disappeared or accepted Thrall's emerging new leadership. Blackrock raiders continued to threaten human communities. Arthas was sent to protect settlements and took part in actions led by Uther, whose experience and faith offered a model for his apprentice. The early campaign establishes their relationship in a familiar struggle between human defenders and hostile orcs.
Those missions would soon be overshadowed by the spreading plague, when the prince's decisions became much harder to justify. Strahnbrad matters partly because it shows the Arthas who existed before Frostmourne: determined to serve and willing to fight for his kingdom. The events are attested by the original Reign of Chaos missions rather than inferred from his later fate.
