Full History
Kurdran Wildhammer and his gryphon Sky'rie earned renown fighting dragons during the Alliance's campaigns. Their successes displayed the strength of the Wildhammer bond between rider and mount. Against the Horde's war dragons, the pair made a distinctive contribution to the aerial fighting of the Second War.
The Wildhammers had developed their gryphon-riding tradition after leaving Grim Batol for the Hinterlands. By the time the Horde brought captive dragons into battle, that skill gave the Alliance a force able to meet an otherwise terrifying threat above the battlefield. Kurdran's reputation in the original Beyond the Dark Portal account rests on these dangerous engagements. Sky'rie was not an interchangeable mount, but the companion whose courage and speed made their victories possible.
Kurdran later joined the Alliance expedition that crossed into Draenor to confront Ner'zhul's renewed plans. His service joined the history of the dwarven clans to the wider wars on two worlds. The story of Kurdran and Sky'rie illustrates how a culture born from exile in the Hinterlands became essential to the defense of kingdoms far beyond the Wildhammer homeland.
