Full History
Rexxar belonged to the Mok'Nathal, a people of mixed orc and ogre ancestry whose place in the Horde was never simple. He fought in the old Horde's wars but grew disillusioned with the violence and the rival ambitions of its leaders. Rather than build a life within the armies that survived the defeat at the Dark Portal, he wandered with the beasts of the wild, keeping his distance from the factions that had shaped his youth.
His path crossed Thrall's New Horde in Kalimdor after the defeat of the Burning Legion. Rexxar helped the orcs defend their young settlement in Durotar and became central to the struggle against Admiral Daelin Proudmoore's invasion. Through him, the New Horde found an ally who understood the orcs' earlier mistakes but did not believe their descendants were condemned to repeat them.
Rexxar's story made the Mok'Nathal part of the founding of Durotar even though he lived apart from conventional clan politics. An outsider by birth and temperament helped defend a nation of former exiles. His choice gave Thrall's Horde a different kind of strength: loyalty freely offered by someone who had good reasons to distrust the banners of the old Horde.
