Full History
The Tower of Azora became a center of arcane activity in Elwynn, where magical study survived within the kingdom of Stormwind's recovered lands. Under the archmage Theocritus, its servants and spellworkers maintained an institution whose affairs reached beyond the tower itself. The magic practiced there brought both prestige and suspicion from those who lived nearby.
The tower's sharpest rivalry was with the Tower of Ilgalar in Redridge, whose sorcerer Morganth became an enemy of Azora's master. The two sides spied upon one another through magical means, conducting a struggle in which knowledge of an opponent could prove as valuable as a soldier at the gate. Their feud tied the quieter heart of Elwynn to hostile ambitions farther east.
The tower also reflected the difficult place of magic in human history. Arcane power had helped protect kingdoms, but reckless or malicious sorcery had brought disaster more than once. Azora's rivalry with Ilgalar was a smaller struggle than the wars that reshaped Azeroth, yet it showed how quickly personal conflicts between practitioners could become threats to the people living around them.
