Full History
Razor Hill grew as the orcs established Durotar after the Third War. Thrall had led his people away from the eastern internment camps and across the sea, seeking land where the New Horde could live without serving demons or fighting for Gul'dan's ambitions. After the battle against the Burning Legion at Mount Hyjal, settlement became the urgent work of keeping those survivors together.
Durotar was not an easy refuge. Its harsh land demanded new roads, stores and defenses, while hostile forces challenged the fledgling nation. Outposts such as Razor Hill helped connect the coast and the approaches to Orgrimmar with the rest of the territory. The Horde needed a place for families, recruits and travelers as well as warriors preparing for another campaign.
Its beginnings were tied to Thrall's attempt to transform the orcs' political life. The old Horde had conquered cities and raised fortresses as stages for further invasion. The New Horde built Razor Hill to hold a home of its own. That difference explains why a modest settlement mattered after a war that had shaken the entire world.
