Quick Overview

Jaina Proudmoore’s refugees founded Theramore on Kalimdor after the fall of Lordaeron. Her decision to preserve peace with Thrall did not remove the danger of renewed war. Northwatch Hold arose as a coastal defense for the human settlement, embodying the unsettled military frontier left by Daelin Proudmoore’s campaign.

Full History

The humans who crossed the sea with Jaina Proudmoore built Theramore after the Third War, choosing a home on Kalimdor rather than returning to a devastated Lordaeron. Their settlement survived the campaigns that followed, including Admiral Daelin Proudmoore's attempt to destroy the new Horde. Jaina refused to sacrifice the fragile peace for her father's war, but the fighting revealed how quickly the old hatred could return.

Theramore's people still needed ports and coastal defenses. Northwatch Hold became one of their fortified positions on the Barrens shore, protecting approaches to Dustwallow and the shipping that sustained the human presence. Jaina's decision to cooperate with Thrall had not erased the military and political boundaries between their communities.

Northwatch therefore grew out of both migration and mistrust. The Alliance survivors had made a home far from the kingdoms of their birth, yet their survival depended on guarding the routes that connected that home to the wider world. The hold recalls the cost of an incomplete peace—one in which two peoples might reject total war while still preparing against renewed conflict.
