Quick Overview

Andorhal became a deadly link in the chain that destroyed Lordaeron. The town's grain stores connected it to communities across the kingdom. The Cult of the Damned corrupted that supply, allowing plague to travel along familiar roads and trade routes. When the Scourge rose, a settlement built to feed the living had helped carry death into their homes.

Full History

Andorhal prospered amid the agricultural heartland of western Lordaeron. Its granaries and transport routes gathered the harvests of the countryside and sent grain toward settlements that depended on the region's fields. Such work held the kingdom together as surely as its fortresses did. When the Cult of the Damned sought to spread the plague, that ordinary network offered a weapon more difficult to recognize than an advancing army.

Infected grain passed into the kingdom's settlements while the signs of sickness were still poorly understood. The dead began to rise, families were destroyed from within, and suspicion followed the same roads that once brought food and trade. Prince Arthas and his allies pursued the source of the disaster as Lordaeron's crisis intensified. The grain plot made the plague particularly cruel: communities that had relied upon Andorhal's stores were endangered by their own provisions.

As the Scourge expanded, Andorhal became part of the kingdom's collapse and a center of the undead presence in the western Plaguelands. Its transformation did not begin with a siege alone. The town was drawn into ruin by the corruption of the system that had made it useful. The history of Andorhal explains how Lordaeron could lose entire regions before its defenders found a conventional enemy to meet in battle.
