Quick Overview

Behind a long-sealed Azshara gate lies Blackmaw Hold, a large furbolg city imperiled by spreading corruption. The Blackmaw clan is fighting to survive through twisting tunnels and groves. The dungeon turns a nearly hidden settlement into an important new high-level destination in WoW: Forever. Its corruption is established as a danger, but its ultimate source has not been securely documented.

Full History

Azshara is a land in which immense antiquity and present decay are never far apart. The highborne city's history, the Sundering's legacy, satyr plots and naga incursions have all contributed to a region famous for ruins and secrets. The furbolgs have their own older connection to northern Kalimdor's forests, living in communities shaped by ancestry, kinship and defense of sacred groves. A sealed passage in Azshara conceals an entire Blackmaw community, a reminder that a map's silence does not imply that no people live beyond its edges.

WoW: Forever reveals that community in crisis. Blight spreads through living groves and deep passages, forcing the Blackmaw to resist a danger striking at both their city and their way of life. The place is more than a cave of enemies: its routes and chambers imply homes, gathering places, and a society with memories at stake. Adventurers entering the hold are moving through another people's threatened homeland. The account should preserve that perspective instead of depicting furbolgs only as generic corrupted opponents.

The official preview promises multiple routes and passages leading farther underground, but does not establish a named source of the corruption or the meaning of every chamber. Readers are directed toward Azshara's older ruins and the furbolg people, without importing newer explanations about the Emerald Nightmare or unrelated later events as proven causes of Blackmaw's suffering.
