Quick Overview

The destruction of Lordaeron brought two different answers from those who wished to resist the Scourge. Scarlet commanders relied on militant discipline and a doctrine of purity, defending their strongholds from threats they often defined broadly. Neither could restore the dead cities or reverse the betrayal of Arthas.

Full History

The destruction of Lordaeron brought two different answers from those who wished to resist the Scourge. The Scarlet Crusade was born from righteous anger at the loss of the kingdom, but its fear of corruption hardened into a suspicion that spared few outsiders. The Argent Dawn accepted the same struggle against the undead while refusing to treat every stranger as an enemy.

This difference reached beyond banners and uniforms. Scarlet commanders relied on militant discipline and a doctrine of purity, defending their strongholds from threats they often defined broadly. The Argent Dawn sought willing allies among both the Alliance and the Horde, judging their value by their determination to fight the Scourge rather than by the faction to which they belonged.

Each order emerged from the same broken land. Neither could restore the dead cities or reverse the betrayal of Arthas. Yet the ways they treated the living marked a profound division in Lordaeron's legacy. One path made fear the heart of resistance; the other tried to preserve enough trust for survivors to work together against the power that had ruined them all.
