Full History

Zul’jin’s initial captivity and release, the Horde alliance, and the tribes’ postwar desertion. Most forest trolls reject the defeated old Horde; Revantusk preserve a different relationship. The original Troll Compendium recounts human capture of Zul’jin; the Warcraft II Horde campaign describes a rescue operation at Hillsbrad. Following the Horde defeat, most forest troll tribes abandon the orcs; the Revantusk remain a partial exception.

The forest trolls’ desertion of the Horde after the Second War repeated an old pattern of separate tribal priorities. Amani, Revantusk, Firetree, and Smolderthorn groups pursued different futures. Those divisions should be traced through the political collapse of the later Amani realm rather than attributed directly to the ancient C’Thraxxi war.
