Quick Overview
High elves from Quel'Thalas contributed rangers, archers, and naval crews to the Alliance's defense against the Horde. Quel'Thalas was descended from the Highborne who had crossed the sea after the Sundering and founded a new homeland in the north. The Amani still contested Quel'Thalas, and Zul'jin's eventual cooperation with the Horde would give that conflict a new wartime form.
Full History
High elves from Quel'Thalas contributed rangers, archers, and naval crews to the Alliance's defense against the Horde. Their participation brought an ancient kingdom into cooperation with the younger human realms. The choice grew from both old ties to the humans and the mounting danger presented by an invasion that threatened forests and cities alike.
Quel'Thalas was descended from the Highborne who had crossed the sea after the Sundering and founded a new homeland in the north. The high elves had previously worked with human magi during the struggle against the forest trolls, creating a history of cooperation even before the Second War. Their rangers possessed skills suited to woodland fighting, while their vessels strengthened the coalition at sea. These contributions gave the Alliance another way to meet an enemy able to attack across many environments.
Their assistance did not erase the elven kingdom's priorities or old grudges. The Amani still contested Quel'Thalas, and Zul'jin's eventual cooperation with the Horde would give that conflict a new wartime form. Elven participation is therefore both an act of collective defense and a chapter in a much older struggle for the northern forests.
