Quick Overview

The opening of the Dark Portal was followed by violence against human settlements on Azeroth's eastern frontier. Garona's account describes an early orc attack upon an unnamed farming community, where inhabitants were killed and supplies seized. The raid announced the human cost of an invasion that had barely begun.

Full History

The first orcish scouts had found land under cultivation beyond the gateway from Draenor. To the invaders, the discovery suggested both the presence of inhabitants and the possibility of food and plunder. The Horde was still learning the shape of the new world and the strengths of those who occupied it. The frontier was therefore vulnerable to small attacks before the human kingdom could fully organize its defense.

One of the earliest assaults described in Garona's chronicle fell upon an agricultural settlement whose name is not preserved in the account. Orcish raiders killed people and took goods and provisions. The violence was not yet the great siege of Stormwind, but it carried the same larger purpose of establishing the Horde's presence through force. The anonymity of the settlement is part of the historical limitation: its precise location and inhabitants cannot responsibly be supplied from imagination.

Reports of destruction soon drew a response from the kingdom. Llane Wrynn and Anduin Lothar prepared soldiers for the Borderlands as organized orc attacks multiplied. The defenders' early struggle unfolded against an enemy whose motives, language, and origin were poorly understood, making each raid a new source of military intelligence as well as fear.

The unnamed farm raid marks the transition from reconnaissance to open aggression. It shows that the First War was fought not only at castle walls and battlefields but also in the countryside where ordinary people lived. The victims' unknown names should not obscure their place in the larger catastrophe that ended with Stormwind's fall.
