Full History
Twilight Grove became one of the places where the boundary between Azeroth and the Emerald Dream lay unusually close. The night elves had long understood the Dream as a realm bound to the health of the living world, and druids trained to enter it through sleep and magic. Their traditions survived the War of the Ancients and the long vigil that followed, though both the Legion and darker forces repeatedly threatened the natural order.
The grove's great tree and moonwell carried that older druidic presence into lands later governed by human kingdoms. In Duskwood, where darkness had already fallen upon once-peaceful country, the Dream's gateway stood apart from the ruined farms and roads surrounding it. The site belonged to a network of portals linked to the green dragonflight's ancient guardianship of the Dream.
Its history was therefore not created by Duskwood's recent troubles. The grove preserved a connection between human-held lands and the older world of kaldorei magic, natural spirits, and dragons. What lay beyond the gateway was not fully understood by those living nearby, and the grove's significance rested in that older bond rather than in any later campaign fought around it.
