The Yorgen Farmstead once belonged to the settled countryside of Brightwood, before shadow and violence transformed the region into Duskwood. Sven Yorgen and his family lived there as ordinary farmers, far from the wars of kings. Their home became the scene of a tragedy tied to a power they had never sought.
A frightened wanderer named Jitters had discovered the Scythe of Elune near Roland's Doom. His encounter with the strange weapon was followed by the appearance of worgen, and he fled through Duskwood in fear. When he hid at the Yorgen farm, the mysterious Black Riders came searching for the scythe. They murdered Sven's wife and children, and Jitters escaped with the knowledge that his own flight had led the killers to their victims.
Sven returned to find his family gone and began seeking answers. The farm's destruction joined a personal grief to the wider curse upon Duskwood: the Scythe's appearance, the worgen and the Riders were no longer distant rumors. A family's ordinary life had been drawn into a dangerous mystery, and the man left alive could not simply abandon it.
