Full History
Shadowglen grew within Teldrassil, the world tree raised after the Third War. The night elves had sacrificed Nordrassil's blessings to defeat Archimonde at Mount Hyjal, ending their ancient immortality. Fandral Staghelm promoted the raising of a new tree in the hope of restoring some measure of the protection and purpose the kaldorei had lost. The new sanctuary rose from that effort rather than from the thousands of years that shaped their older forests.
Settlements within the tree became places where the next generation would learn the customs of its people in a changed world. The kaldorei still revered Elune and defended the natural order, but the great sacrifice had unsettled their place in it. Druids and sentinels faced the task of caring for a newly grown home while signs of imbalance made clear that the old blessings had not simply returned.
Shadowglen thus began with an act of rebuilding after victory and loss. Its history was not the rediscovery of an ancient refuge; it was the creation of a home for a people whose long isolation had ended. The hopes placed in Teldrassil gave the new sanctuary meaning even as its troubles revealed that hope alone could not restore the past.
