Full History
Ravenwind was built during the long age of night elven settlement in Kalimdor, before the Great Sundering shattered the realm that had sustained its cities. Its Highborne ruins belong to the same lost world of arcane power and courtly ambition as Eldre'Thalas farther south. The inhabitants once inhabited buildings whose surviving stonework later generations could recognize even when much of their history had been lost. Their city's fall formed part of the greater destruction that ended the old empire.
Feralas remained inhabited after the catastrophe, but the ruined settlement did not regain its earlier place in elven life. Harpies occupied parts of the site, while remnants of ancient enchantment and ceremonial structures endured among the abandoned buildings. Night elves of Feathermoon still sought objects associated with the old magic there, including the means of empowering the Stave of Equinex. The need to recover such items showed that the broken city had not lost every trace of its former significance.
The ruins connect the Highborne's vanished power with the work of those who came afterward. Ravenwind's people did not leave behind a complete account of their lives, yet their surviving structures and artifacts became part of later efforts to understand and use the dangerous inheritance of ancient Kalimdor.
