Full History
The Hillsbrad fields once supplied farms and villages of southern Lordaeron with crops and livestock. Their importance made the valley valuable to armies as well as ordinary households. During the Second War, fighting across the region threatened the farms and roads that supported Alliance forces. Although the Horde was eventually driven back, the northern kingdoms could never again assume that their peaceful countryside lay beyond a foreign army's reach.
The Third War shattered that confidence completely. The Scourge destroyed Lordaeron's royal order, and the Forsaken later claimed independence from the Lich King's power. Humans who survived in Hillsbrad found themselves close to an undead state centered on the ruins of the capital, with both sides remembering injuries that the other could not forget.
The fields became disputed because they still mattered. They offered food and work in a region where so much had been ruined, yet their ownership now lay across the fault line between living Lordaeron and the Forsaken. Hillsbrad's history follows the changing meaning of familiar land: first the heart of a kingdom's rural life, then a route for invaders, and finally a place where former neighbors became political enemies.
