Full History
Long before tauren riders learned to master the skies, the wyverns of Highperch nested above the canyons of Thousand Needles. The creatures guarded their young from intruders, and the height of the cliffs made the nesting ground difficult to approach. To the Horde, however, the wyverns also represented something more than a danger: the prospect of swift travel and support from the air.
As the New Horde grew, its wind riders needed more wyverns than their trainers could readily provide. At Freewind Post, the aspiring rider Elu sought eggs from Highperch, a risky answer to the growing demand. The plan required entering the territory of fiercely protective parents, revealing the uneasy balance between the Horde's military needs and the animals it hoped to train.
Another tauren, Pao'ka Swiftmountain, came to Highperch while accompanying Motega Firemane in the study of local creatures. His journey took him into danger among the nests. These stories give Highperch a place in tauren history beyond its cliffs: it became a point where curiosity, respect for dangerous wildlife, and the practical ambitions of the new Horde met, without assuring that every venture ended safely.
