Camp Taurajo arose as the tauren and their new Horde allies made the Barrens part of the wider world surrounding Durotar and Mulgore. The tauren had only recently escaped years of centaur pressure. Their alliance with Thrall offered protection, but the land between their homeland and the orcish settlements remained difficult to hold.
A camp along those routes served a practical purpose. Travelers, hunters, and warriors needed places to gather before crossing the open country, and the young alliance relied on connections between peoples who had once been separated by distance and danger. Taurajo belonged to that network of movement and mutual support rather than to a great conquest or the building of a royal capital.
Its place in history is therefore tied to the founding of the New Horde in Kalimdor. The orcs sought a homeland in Durotar; the tauren had found theirs in Mulgore. Sustaining that partnership required smaller communities willing to watch the roads and shelter their neighbors. Taurajo reflected the ordinary work that followed the famous battles: keeping an alliance alive after the armies moved on.
