Full History
The coasts of Darkshore had once belonged to a far larger kaldorei world. The War of the Ancients and the Sundering shattered that civilization, leaving ruined temples and settlements beside a coastline profoundly altered by the destruction of the Well of Eternity. Night-elven life endured, but much of the ancient coastal realm did not.
Over the long years that followed, the kaldorei centered their guardianship upon northern Kalimdor and the forests surrounding Hyjal. The Third War again changed their world, bringing the Burning Legion to the World Tree and forcing old isolation to end. With Nordrassil damaged and new communities forming around Teldrassil, Darkshore's coastal connections became increasingly important.
Auberdine developed as a port through which these separated lands could communicate. Its place in history was not that of a forgotten imperial palace, but of a community formed amid the consequences of ancient destruction and recent war. Ships and roads helped reconnect a people whose sacred lands and political center had both undergone upheaval.
