Full History
The northern quarter of Eldre'Thalas passed from Highborne hands to the Gordok ogres long after the old elven empire had broken apart. The city was once a place of ordered arcane learning, but the ruin of the Well of Eternity and the decline of its surviving masters left great sections vulnerable. The ogres took over halls whose builders had never intended them as a fortress for another people.
Gordok power depended on strength, guards and competition within its own ranks. The newcomers treated the captured complex as a seat of tribal authority rather than a monument to the ancient kaldorei. Their occupation separated the north wing's fate from the Shen'dralar's desperate struggle to preserve arcane power elsewhere in the city.
The ogres' presence made Eldre'Thalas a map of successive conquests. Its walls had survived the Sundering, but survival could not keep the same people in control forever. Across Dire Maul, the Highborne, satyrs and ogres each claimed a different portion of the ruins. The northern quarter belongs to the chapter when physical strength supplanted the magical authority that had raised the city.
