Full History
Muradin Bronzebeard led a dwarven expedition into Northrend seeking discoveries beneath the frozen wastes. It was an undertaking shaped by dwarven curiosity about ancient places and forgotten objects, but it unfolded while the Third War was tearing Lordaeron apart. Far from Ironforge, the expedition became entangled in the search for a weapon that promised to alter the war against the undead.
Prince Arthas reached Northrend pursuing Mal'Ganis and the Scourge. There he found Muradin and learned of Frostmourne, a runeblade said to be hidden in the ice. Their paths converged as Arthas grew increasingly willing to sacrifice men and principles to reach his enemy. Muradin recognized the danger inscribed around the sword, but Arthas would not turn back from the power he believed it could offer.
When Arthas claimed Frostmourne, the blade struck Muradin down, and the prince's fate changed with it. The expedition's story became a warning about the meeting of exploration and desperation: a search for lost history had led a dwarf prince to the place where Lordaeron's heir surrendered his own future. The full consequences followed Arthas back across the sea.
