Full History

Ursol was a great bear spirit who shared the guardianship of Kalimdor's wilds with his brother Ursoc. Their strength belonged to the ancient world before the Sundering, when the forests and creatures of the continent had protectors beyond the reach of mortal kingdoms. They were not rulers of an empire, but defenders of living things.

The Burning Legion's invasion brought those duties into open war. As demons spread through the night elf lands, the ancient guardians joined the resistance against the forces drawn through the Well of Eternity. Ursol and Ursoc fought in defense of a world whose destruction would have taken the homes of beasts and peoples alike.

Both brothers were lost in the struggle. Their sacrifice formed part of the terrible price of the War of the Ancients and endured in the traditions of those who honored the wild gods. The legacy of Ursol was not measured by lands conquered or a throne inherited. It survived through the memory of a guardian who stood against the Legion when the natural world faced ruin.
