The war against the Burning Legion claimed more than soldiers and cities: even the ancient defenders of Kalimdor were vulnerable. Ursoc and his brother Ursol belonged to the bear spirits who guarded the natural world before Azshara's disastrous alliance opened the way for demons. Ursoc joined the resistance and died opposing the invasion. His sacrifice endured in the memory of those who revered nature and mourned its fallen champions.
Full History
Ursoc was an ancient bear spirit of Kalimdor, one of the mighty guardians of the wilds who stood against the Burning Legion during the War of the Ancients. With his brother Ursol, he belonged to the older living order of the world, before the invasion of demons threatened to turn forests and mountains into battlegrounds.
When the Legion poured through the Well of Eternity, the ancient defenders of nature joined the desperate resistance. Ursoc's strength was brought against enemies whose armies had already overwhelmed elven cities and ravaged great stretches of the land. The conflict demanded sacrifice not only from night elf soldiers but from the beings who guarded Kalimdor's living creatures.
Ursoc fell during that struggle. His death became one of the losses remembered by the defenders of the wild, a sign that even the mightiest ancient guardians were not beyond the reach of the Legion. In the years after the Sundering, the names of Ursoc and Ursol remained bound to courage and sacrifice in the ancient war.
