Full History

Alonsus Faol became an influential leader of the Church of the Holy Light after the destruction of Stormwind. The survivors of that war brought more than refugees to the northern kingdoms; they carried the knowledge that ordinary soldiers and clergy had faced an enemy unlike any the human realms had known. Faol helped shape a response that joined religious devotion with the demands of war.

With Uther and other champions, he established the Knights of the Silver Hand. Its paladins carried the Light into battle against the orcs, combining martial training with the convictions of the clergy. The order became one of the Alliance's most powerful symbols during the Second War, promising protection to kingdoms where faith alone had not stopped invasion.

Faol's legacy was the belief that strength had to serve more than conquest. The Silver Hand outlived the war against the orcs, but its members later faced the plague and Arthas's fall. The destruction of Lordaeron tested the institution that Faol had helped build, leaving the surviving paladins to decide how the Light should guide them when the old kingdom could no longer command their allegiance.
