Full History
The Kirin Tor of Dalaran placed arcane knowledge at the service of the Alliance during the Second War. Their libraries and mages supplied capabilities that ordinary armies could not provide. The war against the Horde therefore drew upon institutions created long before the orcish invasion. Dalaran's participation joined the ancient history of human magic to the immediate defense of the northern kingdoms.
Human wizardry had expanded after high elves taught selected Arathor students during the Troll Wars. Dalaran later became the great center of that tradition, with the Kirin Tor overseeing work whose importance extended beyond any single kingdom. During the Second War, the mages offered research and practical aid to allies confronting an enemy with warlocks and unnatural powers of its own. Their support stood beside dwarven engineering, elven rangers, and the armies of human kings.
The original manual establishes the institutional commitment, not a particular heroic mission by a named Dalaran wizard. Such details cannot be supplied merely because they would make the account dramatic. Dalaran's historical role is substantial without them. It made centuries of arcane study part of a collective military effort and would later suffer grievously when the Scourge and Burning Legion attacked during the Third War.
