Full History
Thrall led the orcs west in response to Medivh's warning, seeking a future beyond the human kingdoms and their camps. The voyage brought his followers into contact with the Darkspear trolls, already displaced from their former homeland. Sen'jin's people faced enemies on their islands, and their chief died amid the struggle. His surviving tribe eventually joined Thrall's Horde under Vol'jin.
The Darkspear had left Stranglethorn during the fragmentation of Gurubashi power, finding only temporary refuge at sea. The encounter with Thrall revealed common needs among peoples exposed to larger threats. Orcs and trolls fought to escape captivity and destruction, and the ships continued toward Kalimdor. There, Thrall met Cairne Bloodhoof, whose tauren also sought a secure homeland after generations of centaur harassment.
The New Horde did not begin as an empire of conquest. Its Kalimdor allies joined through experiences of danger and mutual aid, though their histories remained distinct. The Darkspear's later settlements in Durotar and the tauren's place at Thunder Bluff traced their foundations to this period. Their alliance was born during migration, not from an assumption that every member had always belonged together.
