High Explorer Magellas led the Explorers' League from Ironforge during an age when the dwarves were beginning to ask new questions about their own past. The discoveries at Uldaman and the growing interest in ancient titan works suggested that the history of their people reached far deeper than the kings and clan wars remembered in the mountain halls.
Under Magellas, prospectors traveled beyond Khaz Modan to recover artifacts, map dangerous ruins, and bring reports back for study. Their investigations were not confined to treasure: old inscriptions, unusual creatures, and the remains of forgotten settlements could all provide clues. The League's halls in Ironforge became a place where widely scattered discoveries could be compared, disputed, and preserved.
The work created tensions of its own. Excavations sometimes crossed lands inhabited or claimed by other peoples, and the thirst for ancient answers did not guarantee a welcome. Yet the League's central purpose remained unchanged: to learn who the dwarves were before the histories of their clans began. Magellas gave the undertaking direction, making exploration part of Ironforge's identity alongside craftsmanship and war.
