Full History
Muradin Bronzebeard helped found the Explorers' Guild as Ironforge's dwarves began systematically investigating the wider world and their own history. The guild gathered scholars, surveyors, and adventurers to study ruins, artifacts, and distant regions. Its work created another path for dwarven ambition beyond the battlefield or the forge.
The Bronzebeards had long defended Ironforge and contributed technical expertise to the Alliance. Archaeological discoveries raised questions about their people's oldest origins and about civilizations whose remains lay beneath the familiar kingdoms. Muradin's role in establishing the guild joined his military experience to an institution devoted to inquiry. Exploration promised knowledge that could change the dwarves' understanding of themselves, even when expeditions carried significant danger.
The guild later sent researchers through the Eastern Kingdoms and into ancient sites such as Uldaman. Muradin's disappearance in Northrend also affected his brother Brann's travels. His founding contribution therefore connects the royal family of Ironforge to the institution whose maps and investigations help shape the original World of Warcraft landscape.
