Surviving Darkspear trolls escaped their endangered islands with Thrall's orcs and continued toward Kalimdor. Sen'jin had been killed during the conflict with hostile murlocs, and the Sea Witch pursued the departing forces. The flight carried a displaced troll people toward the new Horde's future homeland.
The journey joined two groups with different losses behind them. Thrall's orcs sought escape from the old wars of the Eastern Kingdoms and the legacy of demonic service. The Darkspear had lost their chief and could no longer rely on their island refuge. Their shared danger made cooperation more than an agreement between leaders; people fled together across the sea, dependent upon one another for survival.
Their arrival in Kalimdor did not end the Darkspear's search for a safe home. They would eventually settle the Echo Isles off Durotar, only to face another crisis under the witch doctor Zalazane. Yet the sea crossing was the decisive transition from an isolated island tribe to a people whose fortunes became closely tied to Thrall's coalition of orcs, tauren, and trolls.
