Full History
Eldarath flourished in Azshara when the night elves' empire still drew power from the Well of Eternity. The city's Highborne prized arcane knowledge, leaving behind inscriptions and artifacts that testified to the confidence of a civilization able to shape its surroundings through magic. Eldarath belonged to the same world of privilege and sorcery as the court of Queen Azshara. Its achievements were inseparable from the power whose misuse drew the Burning Legion to Azeroth.
The War of the Ancients tore that world apart. As Azshara's court opened the path for demonic invasion, resistance spread among the night elves and their allies. The destruction of the Well brought the Great Sundering, breaking the ancient landmass and ending the empire that had sustained Eldarath. The city did not emerge intact from the catastrophe. What survived of its structures and enchantments became the scattered traces of a vanished age.
The ruins matter because they preserve both halves of the Highborne legacy. Learning and craftsmanship produced great works, while an aristocracy convinced of its right to wield immense power helped destroy the society around them. Eldarath's story is not simply that a city fell; it is that the source of its greatest strength became part of the calamity that erased it.
