Full History
The Southsea pirates sought more than isolated ships to plunder. On the Tanaris coast they established Lost Rigger Cove, a sheltered harbor where stolen goods could be landed and vessels could be repaired beyond the immediate authority of the Steamwheedle Cartel. The same coastal access that made goblin trade profitable gave the pirates a refuge near the routes they preyed upon.
The freebooters did not build a fleeting shore camp. Their occupation included a working shipyard and a vessel under construction, evidence of plans to maintain a lasting presence. Men who could sail beyond the desert's edge had less reason to depend on the settlements controlling its wells and roads. That independence made the cove useful to raiders and dangerous to merchants whose fortunes depended on ships reaching port.
Lost Rigger Cove belonged to a wider contest across Tanaris. Gadgetzan's traders tried to sustain commerce between the inland settlement and the South Seas, while the pirates turned the same sea lanes into hunting grounds. The cove's history is therefore one of an organized criminal foothold taking advantage of a profitable, lightly controlled frontier, not merely a collection of tents on a distant beach.
