Quick Overview

Bashal’Aran prospered as one of Queen Azshara’s favored Highborne settlements, ruled with Ameth’Aran by Athrikus Narassin. The Sundering destroyed that world, but Narassin’s magic left the mage Asterion imprisoned behind a moonstone seal. The ruined town preserves both the ambitions of the old empire and the cruelty that survived its fall.

Full History

Before the Sundering, Bashal'Aran stood beside Ameth'Aran as one of the favored settlements of Queen Azshara's empire. Highborne lived under the authority of Athrikus Narassin, whose command extended over both towns. Their lives belonged to a civilization enriched by the Well of Eternity, where arcane skill and royal favor conferred influence.

Among those attached to Bashal'Aran was Asterion, a mage and warrior who moved between the twin settlements. Narassin's power was great, but his rule did not save the towns from the catastrophe that ended the old night-elven world. The War of the Ancients and the collapse of the Well shattered the empire, bringing ruin to the places that had prospered under Azshara's protection.

The disaster did not release everyone caught within it. Narassin's magic bound Asterion behind a moonstone seal, leaving the former inhabitant imprisoned long after his city had died. The ruins preserved more than abandoned walls: they carried an unresolved act of domination from the Highborne age. Bashal'Aran's history reaches from royal privilege through the Sundering to the lasting harm caused by a powerful mage's refusal to relinquish control.
