Full History
The Scarlet Monastery's graveyard belonged to an institution transformed by the fall of Lordaeron. The monastery had once served the religious life of a human kingdom. After the Scourge destroyed that kingdom and undeath spread through its lands, the Scarlet Crusade converted the complex into a center of militant resistance.
Its leaders sought to fight the undead, but they also became consumed by the fear that anyone outside their ranks might be corrupted. The dead buried near the monastery were caught in the same terrible history that had consumed the wider kingdom. Scarlet warriors could defend sacred ground while suspecting strangers who approached it, and the order's devotion hardened into persecution.
The graveyard tells part of the monastery's larger change. A place meant to honor the dead now stood inside a fortress of zealots waging a harsh war against both the Scourge and those they distrusted. Lordaeron's catastrophe had not merely filled the land with graves. It had altered the living guardians of those graves, drawing them toward a faith defined increasingly by fear.
