Quick Overview

Near the Wetlands' Whelgar's Excavation, an unfamiliar mist and strange lights have begun to trouble the hills. Beyond the dig lies a place seemingly caught outside ordinary time, defended by titan constructs and dangerous wildlife. The Explorers' League has reason to investigate the mystery, although its cause is still unknown. Forever's dungeon extends the region's established archaeological history without retroactively placing its new discoveries in the patch 1.1 world.

Full History

The Wetlands are a land of trade roads, dwarven excavations, shattered bridges and the still-scarred approaches to Grim Batol. Archaeologists of the Explorers' League have long sought evidence of the dwarves' antiquity in the earth, sometimes stumbling onto things far older than the kingdoms now claiming the marsh. Whelgar's Excavation embodies that restless curiosity. The work is painstaking, dangerous and regularly interrupted by hostile creatures or the political anxieties of the region.

A new disturbance has appeared above that familiar dig. Reports describe mist descending from the mountains and flashes along the horizon, beyond which there is a place that appears strangely insulated from the passage of time. Wild animals and titan-made guardians defend an area whose purpose remains unclear. The word 'titan' has a firm original-era place in dwarven scholarship and in the ruins of Uldaman; it does not authorize the writer to import later Chronicle explanations, Keeper genealogies or machinery into this particular site without evidence.

WoW: Forever turns a longstanding habit of exploration into a contained mystery for a party. The story should proceed from signs in the Wetlands to the startling excavation and only then toward whatever the game reveals. As yet the official preview does not establish an ancient builder, a named keeper, or a final explanation for the temporal anomaly. Those gaps are recorded as open research questions rather than filled with dramatic invention.
