Quick Overview

In the original-era history, adventurers could discover the Discs of Norgannon deep in Uldaman and learn of the earthen. The name of the keeper whose treachery led to their concealment was not part of that dungeon account.

Full History

Deep beneath the Badlands, the Discs of Norgannon awaited adventurers who sought the origins of the earthen and the dwarves. The original vault guarded an ancient record, but the Classic-era account did not tell the story of Loken or explain the dispute that eventually sent the discs south from Ulduar. That missing history is supplied by later publications.

A later historical perspective

Ancient history revealed later

Later historical accounts reveal Loken as a titan-forged keeper whose betrayal threatened both his fellow guardians and the records of Azeroth's past. Fearing what the Discs of Norgannon could expose, he pursued Tyr, Archaedas and Ironaya, setting in motion the flight that ended in Tyr's death and the discs' concealment at Uldaman.

In an age when the great titan-forged vaults were still tended by their makers' appointed guardians, Loken held immense authority among the keepers. Yet power did not make him faithful to the charge entrusted to him. The later history of the keepers tells how he fell under the influence of Yogg-Saron and concealed wrongdoing within the halls of Ulduar. He feared a reckoning if the truth reached those empowered to judge him.

Tyr and his allies discovered enough to challenge that silence. Archaedas and Ironaya took the Discs of Norgannon, records that could preserve what Loken wished erased, and fled with Tyr. Loken pursued them through the servants of the Old Gods, unleashing Zakajz and Kith'ix. Tyr died defending the escape, but the discs passed into the protection of Uldaman.

Unable to recover the originals, Loken sought to reshape the record. Later accounts attribute to him a substitute archive, the Tribunal of Ages, whose false histories concealed his crimes and distorted the distant past. That betrayal makes him a central figure in the history of the Discs, without making him an original-era dungeon boss or a character who can be met in the Forever client. His story belongs to the later-revealed ancient background of the very ruins Classic adventurers can explore.
