Kur'talos Ravencrest helped turn scattered night elven opposition into an organized defense against the Burning Legion. The empire's own court had opened the road to invasion, leaving commanders such as Ravencrest to protect people betrayed by their queen. His resistance brought military order to a war in which the defenders faced both demons and fellow kaldorei.
Ravencrest's soldiers fought as Azshara's loyal Highborne maintained the gateway at the Well of Eternity. The divisions were not simply disagreements over who should govern: the portal threatened every settlement beyond the capital as the invaders expanded their reach. Organizing a defense required holding together warriors who had once served the same empire as those assisting the Legion.
Ravencrest's leadership made him dangerous to Azshara's plans. The queen's efforts to eliminate him show how far the royal court had gone in treating its own defenders as enemies. His eventual assassination left the resistance with a succession crisis that Jarod Shadowsong would have to overcome. Ravencrest's contribution survived in the army he helped assemble, even though he did not survive to see the final struggle around the Well.
