Full History
The Venture Company's search for profit brought its crews into the forests and mountains of Kalimdor. The organization valued timber, ore, and whatever else could be extracted and sold. Around Windshear Crag in the Stonetalon Mountains, it extended its industrial work into a land where other peoples had long depended upon the forests.
The machines and camps that followed were not part of a settlement movement seeking refuge from war. They were established to cut and carry away resources. That distinction sharpened conflicts with those who regarded the land as a home, including peoples whose traditions placed value on the living forests beyond their price as material.
The dispute grew from a pattern that followed the end of the Third War: new powers and private ventures sought opportunities in regions already inhabited by others. While the Horde and night elves struggled over the future of Kalimdor, the Venture Company pressed its own claims through industry. Windshear Crag became one of the places where the pursuit of wealth tested the ability of the land and its defenders to resist exploitation.
