Full History
The Charred Vale was once a living forest in the Stonetalon Mountains. Its guardians included treants that defended the trees and creatures that depended upon the woodland for shelter. The arrival of the Venture Company brought a different understanding of the land: timber and other resources could be taken for profit, with little patience for the spirits or communities harmed in the process. The conflict changed the valley before any army could claim it.
Goblin exploitation devastated the trees and provoked the forest's guardians. Violence between the company and the treants left damage far beyond the paths of the cutting crews, and destructive elemental forces spread into the ruined ground. What had been a place of growth became a devastated vale of fire and scorched earth. This was not a wound left by the ancient Sundering but a far more recent disaster driven by greed and resistance.
Druids and defenders from nearby tauren settlements sought to heal what remained, but the valley's suffering could not be undone in a single season. Its history measures the cost of seeing a forest only as material to be harvested. The flames and ruined timber were consequences of choices made in living memory, and the struggle to restore the vale belonged to those left to inherit them.
