Full History

The Tainted Foothills occupy part of Mount Hyjal’s lower reaches, which the Burning Legion crossed in its final advance during the Third War. Its name reflects the continued danger of corruption upon the mountain.

The defenders of Azeroth slowed Archimonde’s armies through alliances among humans, orcs and night elves. Their victory did not automatically restore every wounded forest, and the highlands still bear reminders of the invasion.

In Forever the foothills are a named flight destination in the recovering mountain. The specific local cause of each area of taint remains to be established by new quests rather than assumed from the historic campaign alone.
