Full History
The dwarves of Khaz Modan were famous for shaping stone on a scale that neighboring peoples rarely attempted. Across Loch Modan they built roads, defenses and works that tied mountain settlements together. The Stonewrought Dam was among their greatest undertakings, changing the waters of an entire valley by holding them behind carved masonry.
Such engineering belonged to a land repeatedly threatened by war. During the Second War, Horde armies pushed through the northern approaches to Khaz Modan, striking the dwarven territories and the routes that connected them. The resistance of the dwarves and their Alliance partners eventually turned back the invasion, allowing the region's communities and works to endure.
The dam's known history does not identify every engineer who laid its stones or a precise day when construction ended. What it does show is the scale of dwarven ambition and the persistence of their homeland through invasion. The stonework survived as an achievement of the mountain kingdom, not as evidence for a tale about an otherwise undocumented master builder.
